Selendang Sutra is a local Indonesian dance troupe in Perth that presents an exotic selection of cultural dances and traditional music. Selendang Sutra Dance Group was formed and founded in 2003 by Astit Oszlowy. Selendang Sutra presents a wide variety of cultural dances, traditional Instruments, Batik, and art painting. Now, the leader of Selendang Sutra is Miska Suryanita. She was dancer since she was 5 years old. She was doing as profesional performances national and international since she lived in Indonesia.
The name “Selendang Sutra” or Silk Veil has been chosen as the name of the Dance Troupe as it has a nice character of the silk: Fine but Strong.
Selendang Sutra Dance group perform beautiful traditional dances from the many islands of Indonesia to deliver a delightful Indonesian cultural experience.
Selendang Sutra offers Indonesian dance and traditional music workshops for kids and adult classes, School Incursion, entertainment performing such as festivals or private functions in Perth, Western Australia. We help students learning the Indonesian language at school. Also, we can give teaching online if we couldn't reach your place.
Selendang Sutra has a wide collection of traditional Indonesian costumes and accessories available for hire. These collections are perfect for Indonesian event decorations and include things such as backdrops, fabrics from all around Indonesia,
Selendang Sutra group is active to promote Indonesian heritage in Perth, Western Australia through their dances in a few cultural events, schools, and any invitation which has the same aim as their goal. Otherwise, we have a new group for our next generation is Selendang Sutra Junior.
